Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European
Affairs, Bujar Osmani, during his working visit to Washington visited the US
Congress, where among the others, he had a working meeting with the new
Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee in the US Congress - Elliot Engel.
"As never before, the entire region of
the Western Balkans is influenced by a strong European and Euro-Atlantic
momentum, in which Macedonia, with its behaviour and Euro-Atlantic success,
plays an important role in reinforcing this influence", stressed Osmani at
the meeting, expressing gratitude to Congressman Engel, whose role in creating
the Western orientation of the whole Balkan region is unambiguous.
"With your presence, advocacy and
support, you have left an indelible mark on the implementation of the Western
values of the Balkan region, on the basis of which today"s success in the
progress of the whole region has been built, as well as and our success to
achieve our fundamental ambition - NATO membership", Osmani stressed at
the meeting, thus congratulating the new position to Congressman Elliot Engel,
as a Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee at the US Congress.
"This new position leads us to further
future cooperation, for which, as a good connoisseur of the regional
circumstances, I expect to have an even greater positive impact on the
implementation of Western values in the Balkans," Osmani stressed.
Congressman Eliot Engel handed over the
letter to Osmani, which he, as a Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee at
the US Congress, together with Congressman Michael McCaul, who is laso a member
of the committee, address directly to the Secretary of State Michael Pompeo to
support Macedonia in its Euro-Atlantic aspirations, and therefore they state in
the letter that it is of a direct interest to the USA and its allies.
Earlier Osmani also participated in the
traditional prayer breakfast organised by the US President Donald Trump, and
during his visit to the US Congress he had meetings with Congressman Steve
Stivers, who until January this year served as President of the National
Republican Committee in the US Congress, and within the Senate visit, Osmani
also had a meeting with Senator Ron Johnson, who is also Chairman of the
Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee at the US Senate.
