Deputy Prime Minister in charge
of European Affairs Bujar Osmani today had a meeting with the Ambassador of
Australia for North Macedonia, Ruth Stewart.
At the meeting they opened
the topics related to the country's European integration and the status of
implemented reforms, and they also talked about the potentials for coo[eration
between North Macedonia and Australia in several segments.
"North Macedonia is the
new reality on the Balkans- a country that has become a leader in the region
after overcoming deep political crisis in implementing reforms for European
integration and a country that has closed major bilateral issues with its
neighbours", stated Deputy Prime Minister Osmani, adding that the created
so- called track- record, i.e. visible results from the implemented reforms is
an evidence of the work done so far within the European integration process.
"In this period, when
the Euro-Atlantic integration of the country is already certain, North
Macedonia becomes a country that is both politically and economically stable
for foreign investors, and additionally offers a competitive advantage for
attracting investors, given the fact that the country has a qualified
staff", pointed out Osmani.
Osmani and Stewart agreed
that bilateral co-operation between North Macedonia and Australia has the
potential to expand and deepen in many areas, and in this regard, emphasising
the possibilities to use Australia's bilateral development assistance. The topic of the discussion was the
intensification of the trade exchange, for which the interlocutors agreed to be
at a very low level of only $ 9.7 million, despite the increased export of
products from the country by 28%. In the end, they pointed out that there is a
possibility to facilitate the visa regime, which would be of a great importance
to both countries, due to the numerous Macedonian Diaspora in Australia, and in
this regard to improve the overall cooperation between the two countries.
