Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bujar Osmani had a meeting with the Norwegian Ambassador Arne Sanes Bjornstad and the Swedish Ambassador to the country Mats Staffanson.
The main topic of the meeting was the assistance for North Macedonia for joining the EU within the Nordic Progress Project, as well as the topics related to the European integration of the country from the point of view of the increased financial assistance for implementation of reforms and support of the country's policies in the accession period.
"Norway and Sweden have always been our strong supporters and friendly countries, especially in the support of our strategic goals and priorities, such as the accession of the country to the EU, and in that sense I am satisfied with the direct support to the most important process in the country at this very moment- the EU accession negotiations, as part of the overall process of the European integration,# stated Osmani.
In addition, Osmani referred in detail to the support that the Secretariat is using in this period, which is focused on preparation for the implementation of the second phase of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA), establishment of the negotiating structure, as well as improving the transparency of the institution in relation to the overall European integration process.
Last year a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between North Macedonia and Norway, which provides bilateral project cooperation in support of the socio-economic development, in particular in the underdeveloped regions and the country's European integration process by the Deputy Prime Minister Osmani and Ambassador Bjornstad, for financial assistance to the country in an amount of over 3 million euros annually, which is a continuation of the bilateral cooperation lasting over two decades.
