Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov and Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Bujar Osmani, during their visit to Brussels, took part in a working breakfast with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union member states, organised by Greece and Romania.
At the working breakfast, Minister Nikola Dimitrov briefed on the current achievements in the context of the European integrations, the implementation of the Prespa Agreement, and the general expectations of the member states regarding the decision for start of accession negotiations in June this year.
"Our job is to convince you that what we have today in North Macedonia is an opportunity for the EU. Our goal is to transform and to become European in terms of the functioning of our system. In the last decade, Europe was constantly changing, becoming in some manner a driving objective that we need to follow. But our interests remain the same - we need the transformational power of the EU to create a European, stable and prosperous Balkans," stressed Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.
Deputy Prime Minister Bujar Osmani addressed at the breakfast, where he reviewed the dynamics and the quality of the implementation of the reforms, according to Plan 18, which reflects the guidelines and conclusions of the last June summit of the EU Council.
"The Republic of North Macedonia, in spite of the exceptionally great success in addressing open political issues - the Prespa Agreement with the Republic of Greece and the Treaty of good neighbourly relations with the Republic of Bulgaria, at no time did allow to reduce the country"s focus on the reform agenda. We have solid dynamics of the implementation of the Plan 18 reforms and a serious advancement in all defined areas: rule of law, security and intelligence services, public administration reform and the fight against organised crime and corruption," Osmani stressed, thus expressing hope that this reform dynamics will be objectively expressed in the coming European Commission report, which will be the basis for the confirmation of the decision by the European Council in June, to start negotiations with the Republic of North Macedonia this year.
