Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European affairs, Bujar Osmani, who pays a working visit to the Kingdom of Spain, had a meeting with the Minister for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain, Luis Marco Aguiriano Nalda, who is also a representative of the country in the EU.
"Among our two countries there have never been political misunderstandings, on the contrary, the support for our European integration by Spain is a continuity in our relations since the very independence of the country," Osmani said at the meeting, conveying the gratitude on behalf of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, for Spain's support for the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the country, as well as for the bilateral assistance, especially expressed through the twinning projects between the two countries.
Osmani also referred to the dynamics of implementation of the reforms foreseen in Plan 18, especially in the key areas of the rule of law, security and intelligence services, public administration reform and the fight against organised crime and corruption, as the basis for the next European Commission report, for which Osmani expressed confidence that in quality it will surpass the last years', and will provide a solid foundation before the EU Council's June summits.
"There is no longer a dilemma that the political obstacles to our progress have been removed, and the dynamics of the reform agenda will provide a clean position for confirmation of the decision for start of negotiations with the EU this year," Osmani concluded.
