Deputy Prime Minister in
charge of European affairs Bujar Osmani, had a meeting with the Deputy Prime
Minister of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and Minister of Foreign
Affairs, Dr. Miro Cerar, within today's working visit to the Republic of
Slovenia, on which the topics related to the European integration of the
country regarding the start of accession negotiations with the Union, the
dynamics of implementation of the reforms provided in Plan 18, as well as the
expectations of the upcoming June summits were opened.
"The continuous
friendship between the two countries, as well as the closeness of the peoples
from both countries, give me the right to seek a firm support from the Republic
of Slovenia for the European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia,
not only as a vote for confirmation of the decision to start the negotiations
at the June summits of the European Union, but also support in the promotion of
our story to the other member countries, promotion of the successful story on
the Balkans, which certainly deserves to be supported in the interest to
promote the European values in the region", stressed Deputy Prime
Minister Osmani at the meeting, pointing out the integration of the Western Balkans
to the EU and its European transformation, as a mutual interest of both
countries that have a direct benefit of the security and stability of the
region.
At the meeting, Osmani
expressed great thanks to his colleague Cerar and to the Government and the people
of the Republic of Slovenia for the prompt ratification of the NATO protocol,
first after Greece, which, as Osmani stressed, Slovenia reaffirmed the
friendship between the two countries, as well as the closeness of the two
peoples.
During the visit to Slovenia
Deputy Prime Minister Osmani had a meeting with the State Secretary in the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Dobran Božič, and with
the Programme Director of the Center for European Perspective, Andreja Dolničar
Jeraj.
