Deputy Prime Minister in
charge of European Affairs Bujar Osmani had a meeting with the Secretary
General for International and Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of the Republic of Greece, Ioannis Brahos.
At the meeting, the topics
for fulfilling of the obligations arising from the Prespa Agreement, the
economic cooperation between the two countries were opened, with a special
focus on the regional economic integration and the economic reforms implemented
so far. The purpose of the conversation were the possibilities for enhancing
mutual cooperation in all of these areas, with a special focus on the
cross-border cooperation projects that are implemented through EU IPA funds.
"The progress in the
mutual communication and economic cooperation marks the new era of bilateral
relations between the two countries after the signing of the Prespa Treaty, and
is probably the most important benefit of progress in political
relations," Osmani said at the meeting, thus pointing to the government's
decision for support and implementation of the project for development of the
Prespa region and opening of the border crossing "Markova noga".
Other issues related to
bilateral cooperation were also opened in the framework of the exchange of
knowledge and experience, with which the Republic of Greece will support the
Republic of North Macedonia in the preparation of the administration and the
rest of the negotiating structure for the successful start of the negotiations
with European Union.
