Deputy Prime Minister in
charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani had a meeting with the Deputy Minister
for European affairs Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, Matti Maasikas, who
pays a working visit to our country.
Deputy Prime Minister Osmani
firstly expressed his gratitude to his interlocutor Deputy Minister Maasikas
for the continuous support of his country for the aspirations for EU membership
of our country, but also the gratitude for the fact that the Republic of
Estonia is the country promoter of the EU enlargement process.
"Estonia is a
successful European story, a model from which Northern Macedonia acquires
important experiences, and which continuous support is especially important for
our European integration," Osmani stated.
Osmani presented the
dynamics of implementation of the reforms envisaged in Plan 18, especially in
key areas of the rule of law, security and intelligence services, public
administration reform and the fight against organised crime and corruption.
"We expect an even
better Progress Report on the country that will reflect the reform momentum in
the country, along with another recommendation that will be the basis for
confirmation of the decision of the EU Council in June for start of the
negotiations with the Republic of North Macedonia," added Osmani, thus
asking for direct support from his interlocutor in the important forthcoming
period.
During the meeting, the
interlocutors reflected on the bilateral cooperation between the two countries,
expressing consent that the cooperation shall continue in the future, taking
into consideration the importance of this support in the important forthcoming
period.
