Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani
had a meeting with the EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and
Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn within his working visit to Brussels.
At the meeting they opened the topics of the country's progress in
delivering the envisaged reforms in order to start the pre-accession
negotiations with the Union. Osmani briefed Commissioner Hahn on the dynamics
of implementation of the reforms envisaged in Plan 18, especially in key areas
of the rule of law, security and intelligence services, public administration
reform and the fight against organised crime and corruption.
"We expect an even better Progress Report on the country that
will reflect the reform momentum in the country, along with another
recommendation that will be the basis for confirming the decision of the EU
Council in June for start of the negotiations with the Republic of North
Macedonia," Osmani stated at the meeting. In the same regard Osmani briefed
on the activities in creation and training of the negotiating structure in the
country, including the successful explanatory meetings with the European Commission,
which are regularly held in accordance with the envisaged dynamics.
During the working visit to Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister Osmani
will have a meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for
Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission,
Federica Mogherini, he had a briefing with representatives of the Working Party
on the Western Balkans Region (COWEB/COELA), and he will also take part in a
briefing organised by the influential think tank European Policy Centre (EPC)
on topic "North Macedonia on the EU path: A home run to accession
negotiations?". At the margins of his visit, Osmani will take part on a
conference on topic: "Security in SEE- Security across Europe"
organised by Hans Seidel Foundation.
