Today in the hotel "Izgrev" in Struga started the annual conference of the Secretariat for European Affairs, where, under the working title "Step forward 2019", SEA employees, led by Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani, in the next three days, will summarize the results of the European integration process in 2018, as well as the obligations, perspectives and challenges that the country will expect in the next 2019.
"Without false modesty, the role of the Secretariat for European Affairs in the past year- 2018 was extremely successful, which I am particularly proud of, and that is confirmed by the numerous associates, international friends, but as a confirmation is also evident in all public opinion surveys," said Osmani in his opening address. In the same direction, Osmani pointed out the forthcoming 2019 as the year when SEA will take even greater burden in leading the social processes in the country, taking into account the negotiations that were expected to be finalised at the June summits.
"I believe in SEA's expertise and capacities to lead this process, and I believe that in 2019 we will justify the trust that the state, the government, the international community, and the whole public has in us," Osmani said, announcing an increase in the capacities and the SEA, as the leading institution in the negotiations, but also in general in the entire negotiating structure it leads as the main negotiator.
At the
opening of the conference, the deputy of Osmani in the negotiation team and
chief technical negotiator Bojan Maricic had his address who presented the
negotiating structure, the working group's positions, and spoke about the
expectations from the SEA, both on expert and technical level, as the main
skeleton of the negotiating structure itself.
The State Secretary at the Secretariat for European Affairs Kalinka Gaber and the State Counsellor for European Policy and Coordination Dragan Tilev spoke about the expectations from the SEA, about the capacities of the institution and the ways of their promotion.
The
annual conference of the Secretariat for European Affairs is traditionally held
by the end of the year, at which the Secretariat reviews the state of affairs,
progress, challenges and perspectives of the European integration. From today
on and in the next three days, in a number of workshops that are part of the
annual conference, an analysis of the European integration process so far will
be made; the challenges and capacities will be analyzed, in order to prepare
the Secretariat for European Affairs properly for the forthcoming negotiations
process.
