Deputy Prime Minister of the Government in charge of European Affairs, Arbr Ademi PhD today had a meeting with Vincenzo Amendola, State Under-secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy.
At the meeting they discussed the Berlin process and the upcoming summit of Western Balkan countries in Trieste, the current political situation in the country, as well as our Euro-Atlantic perspectives.
Deputy Prime Minister Ademi welcomed Italy's position for the continued and unwavering support for the enlargement process and our membership in the EU, as well as the attitude of Italy that all Western Balkan countries should join the EU as soon as possible.
Ademi stressed that EU-funded projects for interconnectivity, especially in transport and energy, which are essential for the development of our economy, should be extended to Macedonia. He asked for Italy's support for efforts for accession of Macedonia to the Adriatic-Ionian region and strategy, confirming the regional aspect and the full involvement of the country in the Trans-European programmes.
Ademi and Amendola expressed satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation between Macedonia and Italy, which will continue in the coming period.
