The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European affairs and chief negotiator with the EU, Bojan Maricikj, today, as part of his visit to the "College of Europe", had a meeting in Bruges with the former high representative of the European Union for foreign and security policy, and now rector of "The College of Europe" Federica Mogherini.
At the meeting, initiated by Vice Prime Minister Maricikj, the possibilities for advancing cooperation within the framework of the already signed Memorandum of Cooperation were discussed, through various courses, trainings and projects that will bring the process closer and facilitate the negotiations with the EU.
- The support from the "College of Europe" in strengthening the knowledge of the Macedonian administration will be of great importance for the European integration process. The activation of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the "College of Europe" is a good sign of our commitment and desire to successfully complete the negotiation process, Maricikj said at the meeting, expressing his belief that the cooperation will move dynamically in a positive direction and that the results will be visible during the EU negotiations.
Rector Mogherini also expressed satisfaction with the initiative to activate the activities provided by the Memorandum of Cooperation and with the possibility of cooperation precisely in the process of negotiations between North Macedonia and the Union.
In addition, the possibilities for the participation of our administration in the summer seminars at the college were considered, as well as the possibility of joint project cooperation. They expressed the expectation that in this way it will contribute to the professional improvement of all those involved in the negotiation process, as well as that the strengthening of capacities which is a step towards achieving the goal of membership by 2030.
The Secretariat for European Affairs and the "College of Europe" in Bruges signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in May 2016, on exchange of knowledge and experience, scientific research and applied activities, as well as educational and expert specialization of the administration in the Secretariat, according to the capacities and the resources of both institutions.
After the meeting with Rector Mogherini, the Depputy Prime Minister and chief negotiator with the European Union, Maricikj will give a lecture to the students and young diplomats from the "European Diplomatic Academy", founded by the European External Affairs Service (EEAS), on the topic: "The EU enlargement process with the countries of the Western Balkans, with a focus on the European integration of North Macedonia".
