The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs had a meeting today with the Mayor of Rosoman Municipality, Stojan Nikolov, where they discussed the project for the construction of a factory for the treatment of animal by-products, in accordance with EU and national legislation, a project within the framework of IPA 2019.
- The budget is 9 million euros, European money for investment in the circular economy, which introduces a functional and closed system for harmless and safe treatment and disposal of animal waste. This means the economic prosperity of the municipality and an ecologically healthy environment, Deputy Prime Minister Maricik said at the meeting.
The Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs and National IPA Coordinator emphasized that the use of European funds for the European integration process is very important, the pace of transformation and the introduction of European standards in Macedonian society will depend on them.
- Municipalities have an important role in the adoption and application of European standards and values, and therefore they should continue with the implementation of projects that benefit local communities and their citizens, Maricik pointed out and asked Nikolov for a maximum commitment and ensuring the visibility of the benefits for the local community brought about by European integration through concrete projects.
In that regard, Mayor Nikolov said that he is aware of the benefits of the European funds in building municipal administrative and infrastructural facilities, improving the standard of living of citizens, and preparing local governments to meet European standards.
At the meeting, Mayor Nikolov informed Maricik about the implemented projects and those that will follow, in anticipation of the annual report that he will present to the Municipal Council next week.
This investment will make it possible to collect and process all categories of materials of animal origin resulting from slaughterhouses and the meat industry. The capacity is calculated to process 8,000 tons of animal by-products every year. This is an example of an investment in a circular economy, which is part of the Green Economy, allowing to the transformation of the collected and processed material from polluting waste into products that can be used in other production cycles.
The investment has a value of 9 million euros, half of which is provided by IPA, and half will be provided with a loan from the World Bank. The construction contract is expected to be signed by the end of February 2023. With the opening of this factory, about forty residents of Rosoman and surrounding settlements will be employed.
