Today in Brussels, the second meeting of the bilateral screening for Chapter 24, "Justice, Freedom and Security", is being held, at which the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European affairs, Bojan Maricikj, said that North Macedonia has a good foundation and good preparedness, but now we must show continuity in the implementation of the EU membership criteria.
Integral text from the statement of Deputy Prime Minister Maricikj from Brussels:
"Today we are on the second day of the screening of Chapter 24, Justice, Freedom and Security. A very important chapter that opens at the start of the negotiations, along with Chapter 23, which is also open until the end of the negotiations.
Today on the agenda we have the presentations of our team on asylum, visas and migrations. What we can say and express our satisfaction is that both the European Commission and our team have confirmed that there is a high degree of compliance in this area.
All those procedures that we have been doing for years and especially after the visa liberalization affect that we are highly compliant with the European Union legislation in this area.
Yesterday we also discussed the issues of fighting organized crime and corruption and the whole system of fighting organized crime and corruption, and there we presented our achievements, but we also discussed what still lies ahead and we have a lot of work to do in all areas. We have done a lot, but we still have more work ahead of us."
It only motivates us, together with the whole society, to harness the joint forces and as soon as possible fulfil the conditions that will be set for us after this screening in order to have a successful, short and fast European Union accession process".
