In order to ensure greater societal inclusiveness in the negotiation process for North Macedonia's membership in the EU, yesterday the deputy chief negotiator of North Macedonia for EU membership and also the State Secretary in the SEA, Mrs. Drita Abdiu Halili, accompanied by the hired Croatian expert and former chief negotiator of Croatia for EU membership, Mr. Vladimir Drobnjak and the State Counsellor at the Secretariat, Mr. Dragan Tilev had a meeting with representatives of higher education institutions in the country.
At the meeting they emphasized the importance of proactive involvement of the academic community in the negotiation process, putting their expert knowledge in the function of smooth progress of the negotiation process for the country's full membership in the European Union. The expertise of the academic community is not only needed, but necessary to achieve our strategic commitment to full EU membership.
Cooperation with professors and representatives of the academic community will be needed in all areas and chapters, in order to interpret the EU legislation as accurately as possible, which we will have to harmonize and implement in practice during the entire negotiation process with the Union.
We thank the donors from the Nordic Support for the Progress of North Macedonia for their continuous support in the implementation of such events.
