The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bojan Maricikj today had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and EU of Croatia, Gordan Grlic Radman.
Deputy Prime Minister Maricikj and Minister Radman discussed the current political developments and the future of the region, and reaffirmed that any delay of the region's EU integration opens the possibility for the Western Balkans to move in another direction.
- It is crucial for us that we are visible by the EU in the implementation of the reform agenda and that we continue to manage the processes. It is also in the EU's interest to open the negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania, which will give impetus to the other Western Balkan countries to stay focused on European reforms to achieve democratic standards. - It would be a pity if the EU loses this historic opportunity, Maricikj said at the meeting.
At the same time, Deputy Prime Minister Maricikj stressed that European reforms and the implementation of European standards in the country continue in order to enable a better life for citizens.
Maricikj thanked Croatian Foreign Minister Radman for showing Croatia's European leadership and for giving full support to progress in EU enlargement and our European integrations.
"Croatia is our sincere friend and partner with whom we have traditionally good cooperation, which we will further strengthen in the negotiation process, because the Croatian experience will be very useful for us," Maricikj said.
At the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the opening of new opportunities for strengthening the cooperation in the implementation of European programs, as well as the Interreg program for transnational cooperation funded by IPA funds of the European Union.
