Climate change and finding ways to keep young people at home were the two topics at the centre of discussions at today’s regional conference, organised by the Government of Montenegro and the German Agency for International Cooperation – GIZ. State Secretary Ms. Kalinka Gaber spoke at the conference on behalf of the Secretariat for European Affairs.
Ms. Gaber stated that the challenges facing each country separately have become regional challenges as well but also the EU’s, and consequently, a coordinated response and joint action is necessary.
Ms. Gaber: “Climate change is particularly indicative because these changes are borderless and oblivious to membership status or aspirations, and therefore they induce us to cooperate and form joint action to combat the changes. The region needs to implement a proactive approach and integrate the regional dimension in the strategic response to these challenges and also affirm the cooperation on the road to the EU.”
Conclusions were formulated towards the end of the discussion as a contribution to the ongoing debate within the framework of the Future of Europe Conference.
