Chapter 3.02 Freedom of movement of workers consists of the following areas: general principles of the labour market, EURES, coordination of social security systems and European Health Insurance Card.
European legislation on the free movement of workers consists of rules that ensure the right of EU citizens to work in another Member State, to reside there for that purpose and to enjoy the same rights as the nationals of that Member State in relation to working conditions and social and tax advantages. The application of the EU law from this chapter will take effect after the accession of North Macedonia to the Union, in terms of access to the labour market and the EU regulations and directives for coordination of social security systems. The right to free movement of workers at non-EU level is complemented by a mechanism to coordinate social security systems, i.e. the right of migrant workers and those directly dependent on them to acquire, accumulate and transfer social security rights and to be able to charge them.
