The first day of his working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, Deputy Prime Minister Dimitrov concluded with a meeting with Michael Roth, current member of the Bundestag from the SDP as part of the ruling majority and recent German Minister for Europe.
Deputy Prime Minister Dimitrov expressed gratitude for Roth's engagement from his position on the opening of accession negotiations with North Macedonia in light of the common cause for a united Europe.
Dimitrov: "During our cooperation, I was able to closely acknowledge the values he advocated during his tenure, as well as with the principle positions of Germany and the consistency when it comes to completing Europe with the countries of the region. Such support has given great strength to our efforts for Europeanization of North Macedonia and endurance in moments of disappointment from the unfulfilled European promise. Taking all this into consideration, I am convinced that Germany will continue to work on strengthening the credibility of the Union, and in those efforts we will always have an ally and a friend in the person of Michael Roth."
"I resigned as Minister of Europe yesterday. I would like to express my gratitude to the Macedonians, I have many friends in the region of the Western Balkans and especially in North Macedonia. Your people deserve the best, and that is an EU perspective. The new government remains committed to that, the three parties that have formed the new government remain committed and we are working hard to find a wise solution to overcome bilateral disputes.
Do not give up! Do not give up and my message to my distinguished friends in Brussels and throughout the European Union is - to keep our promises. We have to deliver.
The people of North Macedonia have achieved a lot and I know it is a long and thorny path, but in the end it is worth it. The current European perspective guarantees jobs, prosperity, stability, peace, regional reconciliation and rule of law and respect for ethnic, religious and sexual minorities. I wish you all the best and thank you very much for the excellent cooperation with my friend Nikola and many others, including representatives of the civil sector."
