OSMANI: WITH THE RIGHT TARGET, USAID BILATERAL ASSISTANCE HAS MADE A HUGE IMPACT ON THE DEMOCRATIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY
Deputy Prime Minister in
charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani, had a meeting with the newly
appointed Director of the USAID in North Macedonia, Erik Janowsky.
At the beginning of the
meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Osmani congratulated the Director Janowsky for
his mandate and wished him a successful work, while expressing hope for
continuing fruitful cooperation in a number of areas. As a national coordinator
of foreign assistance, Osmani expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the
successful targeting of the US development aid in the country, amounting to
over half a billion dollars from independence to date, which laid the
foundations for the democratic and civic development of North Macedonia.
"Building democracy in
our country on the principles of the rule of law, freedom, equality,
solidarity, as Western values and their incorporation in our multi- ethnic
society is the aim towards which we strive and work for years with the support
of USAID as our partner, as well as the main centre for the distribution of
development assistance," Osmani said, stressing that USAID's presence has
left an indelible mark in the realisation of the strategic priorities of this
country- EU and NATO membership.
During the meeting, Osmani
and Janowsky expressed confidence that the cooperation between the Government
and USAID will continue to be implemented in accordance with the needs and
priorities of North Macedonia in the upcoming period, which is crucial for the
country's EU integration process.
