Deputy Prime Minister for
European Affairs Bujar Osmani had a meeting with the bishop of Skopje and a
leader of the Roman Catholic Church in the Republic of North Macedonia, Kiro
Stojanov, in the wake of the visit of the head of the Roman Catholic Church,
"It is a real honour
that Pope Francis is visiting North Macedonia, as a symbol of our social and
civilization orientation towards Europe and Western values. It is a pleasure
that the Pope will visit Skopje, the hometown of Mother Theresa in recognition
of our contribution to the world's humanity, solidarity and goodness,"
Osmani stressed at the meeting, pointing out the traditionally good relations
between the various religious communities in the Republic of North Macedonia,
including the Roman Catholic religious community.
At the meeting they exchanged
information about how will the meeting be organised, therefore Deputy Prime
Minister Osmani assured that the Government will provide appropriate treatment
and all logistical support for the successful organisation of the visit.
"This visit, in addition to the importance of the representatives of the
Roman Catholic community, is of particular importance for the entire state and
the Government, with its activities, will respond accordingly to the level
necessary to organise this visit," said Osmani.
At the meeting they also
opened the issues related to the cooperation of the religious communities in
the Republic of North Macedonia and the representatives of the state, as well
as the relations between the religious communities themselves and their mutual
cooperation, and the interlocutors suggested dialogue between the communities
and the state in order to build a functional multi-confessional society.
