OSMANI: THERE ARE NO OBSTACLES FOR START OF THE NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE EU THIS YEAR
Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European
affairs, Bujar Osmani, who pays a working visit to the Kingdom of Spain, had a
meeting with the Minister for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain, Luis Marco Aguiriano Nalda, who is also a
representative of the country in the EU.
"Among our two countries there have
never been political misunderstandings, on the contrary, the support for our European
integration by Spain is a continuity in our relations since the very
independence of the country," Osmani said at the meeting, conveying the
gratitude on behalf of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, for
Spain's support for the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the country,
as well as for the bilateral assistance, especially expressed through the
twinning projects between the two countries.
Osmani also referred to the dynamics of
implementation of the reforms foreseen in Plan 18, especially in the key areas
of the rule of law, security and intelligence services, public administration
reform and the fight against organised crime and corruption, as the basis for
the next European Commission report, for which Osmani expressed confidence that
in quality it will surpass the last years', and will provide a solid foundation
before the EU Council's June summits.
"There is no longer a dilemma that the
political obstacles to our progress have been removed, and the dynamics of the
reform agenda will provide a clean position for confirmation of the decision
for start of negotiations with the EU this year," Osmani concluded.
