14:30, Wednesday, March 06, 2019

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European affairs Bujar Osmani, had a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Miro Cerar, within today's working visit to the Republic of Slovenia, on which the topics related to the European integration of the country regarding the start of accession negotiations with the Union, the dynamics of implementation of the reforms provided in Plan 18, as well as the expectations of the upcoming June summits were opened.

"The continuous friendship between the two countries, as well as the closeness of the peoples from both countries, give me the right to seek a firm support from the Republic of Slovenia for the European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia, not only as a vote for confirmation of the decision to start the negotiations at the June summits of the European Union, but also support in the promotion of our story to the other member countries, promotion of the successful story on the Balkans, which certainly deserves to be supported in the interest to promote the European values in the region", stressed Deputy Prime Minister Osmani at the meeting, pointing out the integration of the Western Balkans to the EU and its European transformation, as a mutual interest of both countries that have a direct benefit of the security and stability of the region.

At the meeting, Osmani expressed great thanks to his colleague Cerar and to the Government and the people of the Republic of Slovenia for the prompt ratification of the NATO protocol, first after Greece, which, as Osmani stressed, Slovenia reaffirmed the friendship between the two countries, as well as the closeness of the two peoples.

During the visit to Slovenia Deputy Prime Minister Osmani had a meeting with the State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Dobran Božič, and with the Programme Director of the Center for European Perspective, Andreja Dolničar Jeraj.
