OSMANI: THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PLAN18 IS A BASIS FOR ONE MORE POSITIVE EC PROGRESS REPORT
10:51, Wednesday, February 20, 2019

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Bujar Osmani had a briefing with the representatives of the Working Party on the Western Balkans Region (COWEB/COELA) within his working visit in Brussels, where he informed on the process of EU integration of the country.

At the meeting, Osmani briefed on the country's progress in delivering the envisaged reforms in the direction of preparing the country for the start of membership negotiations with the European Union, pointing at the pace of implementation of the reforms foreseen in Plan 18, especially in key areas on the rule of law, security and intelligence services, public administration reform and the fight against organised crime and corruption.

"We have exceptionally successful dynamics of implementation of the reforms provided in Plan 18, which I believe will result in even better report of the European commission than the last years' report, together with one more unconditional recommendation to the EU Council", stressed Osmani, thus expressing unambiguous expectation that this progress will result in confirmation of the EU Council decision in June for start of negotiations with the Republic of North Macedonia.

During the working visit to Brussels Deputy Prime Minister Osmani will participate on the briefing at the influential think- tank European Policy Centre (EPC) on topic: "North Macedonia on the EU path: A home run to accession negotiations?". Later Osmani will take part on the Conference on topic: "Security in SEE- Security across Europe" organised by Hanns Seidel Foundation, and he will also have meeting with the EU commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, as well as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission, Federica Mogherini.
