Deputy Prime Minister of the Government in charge of European Affairs Bujar Osmani within his visit to Brussels, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov, had a working meeting with EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy And Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hah, where they discussed all issues related to the European the agenda of the Republic of Macedonia.
Osmani referred to the commitment of the Republic of Macedonia to the reform process, stressing the local elections, whose successful implementation is a crown of part three of Plan 3-6-9. Osmani underlined that, after the end of the elections, the reforms are again in the main focus of the Government, whose intention is to fully incorporate them in Plan 3-6-9 all the remarks and requests by the international partners and fully implement it. This, together with the removal of the other political obstacles on the European integration path of the Republic of Macedonia, Osmani expects will result in concrete steps by the Union, as well as the EU Member States, regarding the visibility of the European perspectives of Macedonia.
"Our intention is to deliver solid progress in the implementation of reforms by the end of this year, which would ensure the elimination of the conditionality of the recommendation, something that, according to the submitted reforms, we expect to result in a positive report and a clear recommendation by the Commission in April next year,"- stated Osmani. He added that, according to the removal of the remaining political obstacles for progress in the EU integration processes, such as relations with neighbours and internal political issues, he also expects the progress made by the European Council in June/July next year, when he hopes on a decision to start negotiations on full European Union membership.
Osmani underlined the new European optimism that is present in the Republic of Macedonia, the optimism that is observed throughout the region, and which is more obvious and more evident in most of the European Union member states. "For us, 2018 is a historic opportunity when all the cubes are in place to make the key step forward and finally close the NATO and EU issue," Osmani said.
During the visit, Osmani and Dimitrov had a working breakfast with the Ministers of foreign affairs of the EU member states, where they briefed on the progress in fulfilling the obligations arising from the EU integration processes, and tomorrow they have meeting with Vice President and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Frederica Mogherini. In his agenda, Osmani has an address at the independent think tank institute European Policy Center (EPC), on the topic "Plan 3-6-9: further improvement of Macedonia's EU integration process", and on the sidelines of the visit, he will have a meeting with the Director for Western Balkans in DG NEAR, Genoveva Ruiz Calavera.
